Starting the week right with a blog update, yay! :))
I can still remember how perfect that day was. I think that there was a divine intervention that happened, haha!
Imagine, it was our last day in Kansai (we had to leave later at night for our night bus). Abbey wasn’t feeling well during the earlier parts of our trip but her colds MAGICALLY disappeared that morning (meaning, yay, we could go to Kyoto!!)! When we arrived at the Osaka station, we almost gave up in searching for “empty” lockers but we found a place where we could store ours (also inside the BIG osaka station). We found a kimono rental shop within our first minutes in Kyoto (I was about to use the google map but our luck was overpouring that day, as you can tell). It didn’t rain and it was a perfect “Spring day” with cherry blossoms in FULL BLOOM all around the city. When I checked the weather, I found out that it was the last “ok day” for the cherry blossom trees in Kyoto because it heavenly rained the next day. *_*
Maybe we combined each other’s luck?? Haha!
Walking in kimono in Kyoto with one of your dearest friends = #friendshipgoals :))
Thank you cherry blossoms for waiting for us!
Let’s start with the actual narration! Shall we?
After checking out from our airbnb, we headed to Osaka station. At first, we could not find empty lockers. Luckily, we found these!
Thanks Japan for making it convenient for everyone!
Osaka station was really “blooming” that time haha
Had our breakfast in a restaurant in Osaka station. It was so yummy (and affordable)!
Arrived at Kyoto station!
Going with the flow with all the tourists lol.
Tip from me: When you don’t know how to go to a place, just follow where the tourists go :)) Follow the ones who look like they know where they are going.
So if you see me randomly, don’t follow me. I’m usually lost lololol
After dropping off from the *something* Gion bus stop, we found this!
The kimono rental catered mostly for Chinese clients (when we got there, there were so many Chinese tourists) and again, we were lucky because Abbey knows how to speak Chinese.
After choosing our kimono set, we strolled around the streets of Gion and visited Yasaka Shrine nearby.
Kimono + Kyoto + Sakura.. then add matsuri (festival).. ahh ~ <3
I will never forgot this day when ABC’s icecream fell flat on the floor :))
We took 1000 photos of each other :))
We didn’t know where else to go.. so we thought of The Philosopher’s Walk.
Thanks to my excellent navigational skills, we dropped off at the wrong bus stop. Since we were running out of time and it’s hard to walk around so much in Kimono, we decided to just take the taxi haha.
Future goal: Biking around Kyoto when it’s cherry blossom time!
Gaining wisdom as we walked along the Philosopher’s Path. Haha
Beautiful paintings by a Japanese artist who was selling his art along the path!
Stalkers of each other haha
Time to go back!
Last tourist shot
If you are looking for a kimono rental shop near Yasaka shrine, you should be able to find this! 🙂
To end this post, I’d just like to thank my buddy ABC for everything about this trip! I can’t wait to travel around Japan with you more! Thinking about all our funny / fail moments together = lololol
I will never forget how clueless (and “chill”) we were when we were on our way to our wrong night bus meeting point. And we had to hail a cab as fast as we could to go to the other side of Osaka, hahahaha. Luckily, the taxi driver was so nice and he even gave us a quick tour of Osaka at night. Lol!
Here’s to many memories (and pages to fill up with immortalized moments haha) in the future ~
