Last weekend, I had a spontaneous adventure with Justin at Chichibu, a city located in Saitama prefecture. We went to see the beautiful Icicles of Misotsuchi! It was my first time to see icicles in real life. *_*
One of my 2016 goals is to explore the place I call “home” (for almost 5 years) here in Japan. I also want to introduce these places in Saitama through my photos & blog entries. Luckily, Justin and I have the same hobby / passion over Japan travel and taking photos (after all, he’s a professional photographer.. and I’m the pretentious one, haha!).. so yay, I got to tag along with him this time! :)) We just talked about this maybe just 12 hours before the trip, haha! And based on his research, last weekend would be the last for the icicle viewing / “light up”. I’m not so sure about this, though! ^^
Overall, our journey was fun and a bit stressful at some point. :)) Stressful because I mainly just followed him & just contributed a little bit of my (poor) navigational skills, haha. I think that my role was to be the overly optimistic / annoying adventure travel partner. He is better at reading maps / figuring out where to head to.. while me on the other hand, quite the opposite, haha! I’m more of a “whatever goes” person :)))
It’s amazing how the Japanese would even think of installing “lights” for travelers here! Genius idea, right? 😀
Anyway, let me take you with us in our adventure with these photos & captions below! 😉
Spotted a rare KitKat flavor (Japanese Sake, anyone?!) at a random food stall while waiting for our train.
We actually didn’t plan to ride a “limited express” train to Kumagaya. We took this train from Omiya station and we reached Kumagaya in 30 minutes! 🙂
We paid extra 500 JPY to save time.
Finally, we’re here!
We rode the local Chichibu main line for Mitsumineguchi. It was an hour-long ride.
While waiting for our train ~
It actually felt like we were transported in another world. It reminded me of my train rides during my last Hokkaido trip! 🙂
First time to see yellow Wintersweet blossoms!
Spotted a real cute train! Hi, Hello Kitty and friends!
I couldn’t stop smiling that day! Last week was super stressful for me so this trip was such a BREATHER!! Phew
We got reprimanded because of me =))
We had a brief stop at a restaurant. It was the fastest 10 minutes of my life :)) I had to finish my katsudon in a span of 10 minutes so we could catch our bus!
Thank you Obaa-chan & Ojii-chan for helping us out!
The bus ride was so refreshing and breathtaking!
If only I could travel so often, I would! Someeedaaay, those days will happen! 😀
When we arrived at our stop, we actually didn’t have any idea on how to go back to the station. :))
We intended to stay longer and wait for the “light up” but the bus schedule was only until 6PM or so. *_*
Follow the leader lol
OMG we’re neaaaaarrrrr!
… and when we finally reached our destination, my camera ran out of battery. And the spare battery that I bought was the faulty one. ;_;
But, I was still being very positive and bubbly because I didn’t want anything / anyone to rain on my parade that day :))
Last photo with my camera huhu.
Thank you trusty iPhone for taking nice photos too, hehe!
We roamed around for a bit.
Warm matcha latte = perfect!
Hours later… *_*
It was sooo beautiful!
AND YAY RAINBOWW!!
At this point, we still didn’t know HOW to go back to the station. FORTUNATELYYY, Justin met fellow Filipinos while he was taking pictures (while I waited somewhere warm, haha)! We all went back together to the station by riding a taxi, thanks to our new friends!
We just realized that there were only 2 cabs available in the area.. and the taxi service was for reservation as well. It really felt like there was divine intervention that happened that day, haha! So lucky! :))
.. and here’s me, goofing around as always :)) And forcing him to take photos of me lololol
And we had Coco Ichi for dinner! We were starving! Imagine, 8 hours of total commute that day? And we had to ride our bikes to get home too! What a day, hehe!
Hope you enjoyed my story-telling, haha!!
I still have a lot of deadlines to finish so I better end this entry now.
Thanks for reading! ^_^
