TALK - Changing The World With Kawaii.001_cb

Good afternoon everyone, my name is Kaila Ocampo, and I am the founder of Kawaii Philippines.

Later on, my co-founder Anne will join me on stage as we present to you our humble achievements and crazy dreams about spreading and sharing kawaii here in the Philippines.

TALK - Changing The World With Kawaii.002_cb

TALK - Changing The World With Kawaii.003_cb

I will start this short presentation with a story.

A story of a girl who just dreamt about Japan.

A girl who has so much passion about sharing kawaii.

And you guessed that right.. that girl is…. me.

……

………..

………………..

I’m sure that many can relate here because we all have dreams.

TALK - Changing The World With Kawaii.004_cb

Lahat po tayo ay may pangarap. Ang pangarap ko po dati ay pumuntang Japan. 10 years or so later, minsan feeling ko, nangangarap pa rin ako. Too good to be true.

I just wanted to see Japan in my own eyes. I’m sure marami makaka-relate dito.

TALK - Changing The World With Kawaii.005_cb

Mahilig po kasi ako manood ng Cardcaptor Sakura dati.

Siya po ang hero ko nung bata ako, feeling ko sana maging katulad ako ni Sakura, forever carefree at parang always “trying her best in everything”.

Watching anime and imagining myself to be in the same place with these “gambatteru hito” girls made me hope and dream big.

We All Have Dreams: A Narration & Pitch by Kaila and Anne!

On September 6, 2014, I will deliver my first ever talk / pitch with my co-founder, Anne

… in front of a 500+ something crowd.

All my life, I had been this extremely shy person who used to fear public speaking.

I’m still shy and I love my introvert self but since I’m already here… what else should I fear about? 🙂

We all have dreams

I will talk about what pushed me to embark on this kawaii mission with my friends (turned teammates)!

Anne and I will tell you more about our crazy dreams and plans for Kawaii Philippines.

And how you can be part of this pool of dreamers too.

We’re not just going to spread and shower the world with kawaii and confetti. We have a greater vision using this tool.

We want to change the world with cuteness.

I want to share how “kawaii” has changed my life in the most positive way.. even pushing me to organize a crazy big event like this!

I want to narrate how it upgraded a Kaila 1.0, to a 2.0… to a 3.0 (forever in beta mode hehe).

.. and hopefully, my learnings can be of someone’s learnings too.

I am inviting my friends, readers.. initial supporters…

.. and everyone who dreams and wants to do something about those.

This won’t be your typical convention.

It won’t be.

See you there!

<3, Kaila

Kawaii is for everyone.

You may be getting tired of my Kawaii in Manila 2-related posts already but I think I’m gonna post some more one of these days, haha!

*sorry not sorry*

This is my personal entry for our Worldwide Kawaii Campaign at Kawaii Philippinesfor Kawaii in Manila 2 (www.convention.kawaii.ph) ~

This is what kawaii means to me.

it’s not only a happy lifestyle / cute fashion / and the like.. but it is also for everyone.

You can be a guy and can appreciate kawaii culture! Who says you should stop liking Hello Kitty just because you are 30+..?

Tell us (or rather, tell the world) what you think of kawaii too!

We shall be waiting for your entries! Can’t wait to print out the photos and make a huge photo wall out of those in our first kawaii convention in the Philippines!

And yes, ever since I got here, I’ve been meeting with my teammates almost everyday for meetings with contractor / supplier / sponsors and the like!

It’s going to be hella crazy from now on since we’ve got only a month to go.

I’m not really sure if I am prepared for all the craziness but… if I have my amazing, super efficient, productive and passionate friends with me (+ your cheers!)… I know I will survive the craziness!

BRING IT ON!

<3,  Kaila
