Masking; Photoshop
Every photomanipulator takes advantage of masking. If you want to delete a a background (without actually deleting it), masking is the solution.

For this tutorial, we will be using this pretty photo.

Since I want to make Sakura look like floating in the clouds, we’re going to use this cloud stock image I got from sxc.hu.

Ready your layers. The clouds should be on top of the Sakura photo.

Blending textures on photos; Photoshop
Foreword: Omg I just realized that “Blending textures on photos” sounds wrong(?). It should be like “Applying textures to photos”. Too much photoshop :O
This photoshop technique can be used for making your photos look old / retro. You know those dreamy-looking photos you see all over tumblr? Those photos were edited using this technique (well, let’s all assume).
First of all, experiment with a vain photo of yourself.
:D

If you’re not satisfied with its colors, enhance them then.

Prepare your texture. This bokeh texture is from h-d-stock.
Stock images found in deviantart.com are pretty good. And you should know the rule. If it’s not yours, give credit!
